Preliminary details reported from Autopsy Simulator

Most detective adventures offer players a cursory examination of dead bodies at best, but in Woodland Games' upcoming Autopsy Simulator, you'll get a very hands-on opportunity to do just that in detail, all while trying to maintain your sanity (and likely your lunch).

The game puts players in the covered first-person shoes of Jack, a "iddle-aged pathologist whose life – private and professional alike" – has taken a turn for the worse, leaving him "shattered and depressed ... feeling like an empty shell." Following a career downturn, Jack's job is to determine the cause of death of each case that lands on his autopsy table at the morgue. However, things take a turn for the surreal when he discovers the "engagement ring of his long-lost wife Kate" inside the corpse of a woman, and Jack finds himself confronted with an unexpected battle with both "sinister forces and his own thoughts."

Those faint of heart had best be forewarned that Autopsy Simulator is very much true to its name, introducing a series of unresolved deaths "created with the help of pathomorphologists and forensic doctors, so you will feel as if you're involved in a real autopsy process." The developers are striving for realism, so as you perform the standard postmortem medical tests, "organs ... injuries and cases are presented with attention to detail." Unlike many sims, however, this game also promises a "spine-chilling story" interspersed between examinations, during which it appears you may well be in danger of becoming the next cadaver in a body bag if you're not careful.

There is no target release date for Autopsy Simulator just yet, but the game will be launched on Steam when finished for Windows and Mac.
