The Complex set to open on PC and consoles early next year

Between interactive TV shows like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and games like The Complex, it's getting harder and harder to tell the two apart. Especially when Wales Interactive's upcoming "cinematic FMV sci-fi thriller" is set to include experienced film talent both in front of and behind the camera.

In The Complex, a "major bio-weapon attack on London" leaves two scientists trapped in a "locked-down laboratory with time, and air, running out." The goal is simple: escape the lab. But here your decisions matter, as there are over 100 interactive choices to make, and your "relationships with other characters" will lead to one of several different endings.

Filmed throughout England and produced in collaboration with Red & Black Films and Little Jade Productions, the game will be presented entirely in live-action FMV in full HD, with "no pauses or looping footage" to interrupt the narrative flow. With a script written by Lynn Renee Maxcy, one of the Emmy award-winning writers for The Handmaid's Tale, this "female-driven production" stars Michelle Mylett (Letterkenny, Bad Blood), Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones, The Witch) and Al Weaver (Grantchester).

There is no set launch date for The Complex just yet, but the game (movie?) is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2020 for Windows, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
