Profundum to get meaningful release on VR this month

The new year brings new games to look forward to, and one of the first out of the chute is indie developer Black Mouse's VR exclusive, Profundum.

The game thrusts players into the first-person role of an adventurer delving the depths of a steampunk world. As you travel "down into the abyss and discover the secrets lying under the abandoned excavation site, which was closed down under mysterious circumstances," you will need to "solve interesting mechanical puzzles and overcome challenges" along the way. You should also keep your eyes open for "clues, sketches, and notes, which will shed light onto the dark history of Profundum."

Profundum features "realistic, high fidelity graphics and physics. Gears generate friction that moves them, chains will slack and transfer movement between the gears, and jets of steam will propel fan blades thanks to accurate particle simulation." Designed exclusively for virtual reality, the game has been "optimized to provide a fluid experience even on reasonable configurations."

Originally concieved as part of the Global Game Jam 2018, Profundum has since been enhanced and expanded into a full-fledged adventure that is due for release on Steam sometime later this month for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. To learn more about the game in the meantime, be sure to check out the official website.
