While Supermassive Games is best known for its cinematic horror adventure Until Dawn on PlayStation 4, and is currently working on the multi-platform The Dark Pictures anthology, quietly the team was also partnering with Google to produce the newly-released Daydream exclusive Shattered State.
The game thrusts players into the middle of an emergency with "a nation in turmoil" and "a city under threat where only your decisions can halt catastrophe." As the Director of the National Intelligence Agency, "you must take control of the situation and make tough decisions that decide the fate of your colleagues, the public, and ultimately, the nation." The choices you make will affect the narrative significantly, promising to have "far-reaching consequences, impacting both the course of events and the outcome of the game."
Shattered State promises to meld a "fast paced gaming experience" with Supermassive’s usual storytelling prowess and production values. As a Daydream exclusive, it supports the "WorldSense" feature and is "optimized for the Lenovo Mirage Solo standalone VR headset." As you interact with a variety of "believable characters," you will need to decide whom to trust along the way, though the game "encourages multiple playthroughs, letting players discover how they could have overcome each of the challenges in a time of national crisis."
Available now on Google Play, you can learn more about Shattered State through the developer's website.
