Usually people play games to escape the stresses of work, but in indie developer ION LANDS's upcoming Cloudpunk, the stress of your job is all part of the fun.
Players control Rania, the newest courier for a "semi-legal delivery company based in the sprawling city of Nivalis," which allows you to "go everywhere, from the Marrow below to the spires that pierce the grey clouds high above before scraping the edge of the troposphere." This is no pleasure cruise, however, as "no delivery job is too dangerous, and no one is faster than a Cloudpunk driver." On this, your very first night, you will "meet a diverse range of characters including androids, AI and unscrupulous humans at every level of society. Everyone has a story, and in the course of one night in Nivalis, everything will change."
Presented in a distinctive "voxel aesthetic," the game's "immense vertical cyberpunk city" can be traversed both by hover car and on foot. The more characters you meet and interact with, involving yourself in their daily lives, the more you will "unravel mysteries in a world of corporate conspiracy, hackers and rogue AI." Along the way, players must beware their choices, as "decisions will have a lasting impact on the inhabitants of Nivalis."
There is no firm release date scheduled just yet, but Cloudpunk is currently on track to be launched on Steam for Windows PC sometime next year.
