Scarf to adorn PCs this winter
Scarves may not quite be in vogue like they once were, but they sure do make fascinating adventure accessories. The latest game to make use of both the fashionable and functional aspects of neckwear is the appropriately titled Scarf, a fantasy platforming adventure coming this winter.
Scarf tells the story of a character named Hyke, who was "born in an unknown place, surrounded by other souls." It is the task of each inhabitant to "start a path through the world with the main goal being to meld with it and become part of nature." Now it's Hyke's turn to undertake this passage, and to do so he will need to make strategic use of his polymorphic scarf to "explore a magical environment, solve mysterious puzzles and overcome difficult challenges."
Presented in stylish, wordless 3D, Scarf will take players through a variety of distinct locations, some of which are displayed in the first trailer and screenshots unveiled. Along the way, the titular scarf isn't just a decorative or warming garment but the key to overcoming the environmental obstacles in your path, as it changes shape and "adapts to each world to give the player different skills and mechanics for each level." Blending puzzles and platforming elements, the experience promises both "moments of quiet introspection and exploration juxtaposed by intense situations where skills will be put to test."
Created by Spanish developer Uprising Studios and published by THQ Nordic, Scarf is on track for real scarf-wearing weather sometime this winter on Windows PC, either late this year or early 2019.
