Prototype demo of The Maker’s Eden cast out during fundraiser

With the days counting down on its fundraising campaign, a prototype demo of the sci-fi noir thriller The Maker's Eden has now been released for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Created by indie developers Screwy Lightbulb Entertainment, The Maker's Eden is a planned three-part adventure that casts players in the unnamed, unknown role of an amnesiac protagonist referred to only as "905". With no memory of the past and no visible identification required by the authorities, you'll need to piece together the clues to your existence even as some people are after you and want you killed.

The 90 MB prototype demo, while still a work-in-progress that does not fully reflect the finished product, gives players a first glimpse into this "first-person point-and-click adventure presented in the form of a motion comic," displaying stylish hand-painted graphics against "a backdrop of soulful jazz." As seen in the early puzzles, there is no visible inventory (though you do collect items for later use), and the gameplay is "character and story driven with a heavy emphasis on discovery."

You can download the demo from the developer's forum. If you like what you see, there's still time to contribute to the game on Indiegogo, which is currently seeking to raise $10, 000 by July 18th.
