Western comedy Fester Mudd unearthed for download

Yeehaw! It's been a long time since we could saddle up to a new comedy western, but today we can do just that with the downloadable release of Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold.

In the first part of a planned trilogy by indie Finnish designer/composer Paavo Harkonen, the "intrepid but cowardly, ambitious yet lazy, dimwitted but brilliant" titular protagonist is put to the test when he discovers his brother Bud has gone missing from the town of Loamsmouth. The two had been planning a treasure hunt together, but with Bud now missing, Fester will need a gunslinger to help him navigate the dangerous Indian territory without him. But it won't be that easy, because "gunslingers don’t come cheap... and Fester must find a way to convince him to join him on the perilous quest."

Featuring a SCUMM-style interface and a low-res, retro-styled aesthetic that hearkens back to the classics of yesteryear, Fester Mudd received an added boost from the contributions of acclaimed writer/designer Josh Mandel, and the game is being published by Replay Games, the company behind the upcoming Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded remake.

Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold is available today exclusively for download from Zodiac or directly from Replay Games.
