New trailer for Testament of Sherlock Holmes in evidence at E3

Among the bevy of games news and previews at E3 this week, Focus Home Interactive revealed the second trailer for The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Testament of Sherlock, the sixth title from Frogwares to feature the famed detective.

Testament involves a murder wherein Holmes himself becomes the primary suspect. Unable to clear his name, he finds his world unraveling as the city of London and its inhabitants slowly turn on him. Both Focus and Frogwares have kept a tight lid on details about the game, which was first teased in a trailer released around this time last year.

The new trailer doesn't get into any story points, but it does show off characters and locations as well as the game's impressive art direction and lighting. It ends on quite an ominous image, setting up what we can reasonably assume is the fate at least one person wishes for our dear Mister Holmes.

On tap for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Testament of Sherlock is expected out later this year.

This is looking fantastic, wow. Extremely polished in that trailer…

I love Sherlock Holmes very much, and I hate Frogwares and their uninspired games about him. Still i want to like this one, but Iam not very optimistic about it..

I suggest you start with The Case/Secret of the Silver Earring. It’s a great game with a wonderful story and characters and an atmosphere that feels very much like a Conan Doyle story. It’s also the first worthy Frogwares Holmes game. The later games (The Awakened, Aresene Lupin, Jack the Ripper) or more crossovers between Doyles world and others but if you can get past that they are aqually great. Especialy Jack the Ripper wich has a very dark and complex story with a very rewarding ending.

@Baltadzhiev any Holmes game that you’d recommend? I’m a huge fan of Doyle’s stories too, and even thought the movie wasn’t a bad homage to the original stories at all, though I found a few inconsistencies that contradicted the lore established by Doyle. I had thought of trying out The Awakening and Arsene Lupin, but it’s probably better to see what others think of them first.

I am a big fan of the books but the games always seemed a little dull and unpolished. The interface was lousy, the puzzles were boring and the characters were forgettable. The new Sherlock Holmes certainly looks good, but for me the important thing is whether it plays well.

It looks very pretty. I wonder why they changed his face from the previous games. Or is this new Sherlock Holmes an impostor?

The Frogwares Sherlock Holmes games seem to be getting better with each episode, so I’m looking forward to that one.
