Black Mirror III demo cracks the public domain

The full look is still to come, but players can finally get a first-hand glimpse at Black Mirror III, as a playable demo of the upcoming dark mystery thriller has just been released.

The last installment of the popular series (at least if it's subtitle The Final Chapter is to be believed), will once and for all conclude the tragic story of the accursed Gordon family. Picking up mere moments after the events of the last game, players will once again control American Darren Michaels (now referring to himself as Adrian Gordon) as he confronts his ill-fated legacy. The challenge won't be easy, however, as he's soon arrested on suspicion of arson and murder, and begins having trouble distinguishing fantasy from reality when he hallucinates violent images.

The demo starts right at the beginning of the game, with Adrian arriving to discover the Black Mirror Castle in flames. Thanks to psychiatric counselling and an anonymous benefactor who posts his bail, Adrian is soon released from prison. Now feared by the villagers in the quaint Willow Creek, he must seek evidence of his innocence, as the police seem convinced of his guilt and in no hurry to investigate.

Weighing in at over 800 MB, the demo can be downloaded from GamersHell or WorthPlaying (choose the "Germany Mirror #1" link to download, not the faulty US mirror option.) The final version of Black Mirror III is expected to follow later this month in both Europe and North America.
