Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island materialize under Autumn Moon

For all of you Monkey Island fans out there hoping for the acclaimed series to be resurrected... well, you'll have to keep waiting. But Monkey Island and death are still prominent in today's news, as the first details of Autumn Moon's latest adventure, Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island, have now been uncovered.

In an early sneak peek, our intrepid friends at the German website Adventure-Treff have reported that PC Games magazine will be publishing an exclusive three-page preview of Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island in its upcoming issue. According to a loose translation, the three protagonists are spirits who cannot collect objects normally (at least at first) or communicate directly with the living, making their spectral challenges an integral part of the gameplay.

While not wanting to upstage the magazine preview ahead of time, Autumn Moon's Bill Tiller has confirmed to Adventure Gamers that Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island is the same project previously code-named "Teal Harvest". And while Tiller admits that the game is "a Monkey Island and Pirates of the Caribbean inspired game" (the ride, not the movie trilogy), he states that the new game will have a more serious, slightly darker tone than the acclaimed series by LucasArts, comparing it more to the tone of Full Throttle than Monkey Island, or even Autumn Moon's own debut adventure, A Vampyre Story.

Autumn Moon previously announced the AVS sequel called A Bat's Tale, though Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island will reportedly be finished first and published by dtp, with a (German) release scheduled for early 2010.
