Flower, Sun and Rain forecast for Europe in October

It's been a long time in coming, but gamers outside of Japan will finally get a chance to play Suda51's Flower, Sun and Rain when it releases for the Nintendo DS throughout Europe this fall.

Originally released in Japanese on the PlayStation 2 back in 2001, Flower, Sun and Rain was written by acclaimed developer Goichi Suda, aka Suda51. Better known in the western world for his heavily-stylized action games Killer7 and No More Heroes, Suda51 designs all his games with what he describes as "a touch of the bizarre and unexpected" and claims that "this game is no different!"

Flower, Sun and Rain is a mystery adventure that casts players as a detective who must find a way to stop a bomb from exploding at an airport. Similar to the movie Groundhog Day, however, players must relive the same day over and over again until finally piecing together the solution. While sharing the story, gameplay, and "creative quirks" of the original, the DS version also promises to make good use of the touch screen.

To help set the table for the upcoming release, a lengthy cinematic trailer for the game has also been released by its European publisher, Rising Star Games. Showing a generous sampling of the environments, characters, and gameplay, the video can be streamed directly from the publisher's website or downloaded from sites like FileFront.

There is still no word on a possible North American release of the game, but Flower, Sun and Rain is scheduled for release throughout Europe beginning in mid-October.
