Nancy Drew seems to get all the exotic assignments, and this year is no exception, as the busy teen detective will soon be off to Italy in The Phantom of Venice. With its release date fast approaching, Her Interactive has now unveiled a playable demo of the 18th game in the hugely popular series.
In The Phantom of Venice, Nancy accepts an undercover assignment to help the Italian police discover the identity of a masked thief who is stealing valuable works of art. Only by secretly infiltrating a dangerous crime syndicate will Nancy be able to stop "Il Fantasma" once and for all. And if that involves a little sightseeing of one of the world's most picturesque cities along the way, all the better.
The demo starts at the beginning of the game, with Nancy finding herself in a whole heap of trouble before reflecting on the events that brought her to her current predicament. Players will then control Nancy through her recollections, beginning just after her arrival at a lovely palazzo, where she must acquaint herself with her neighbours and the local language and customs before receiving her first official assignment.
The 174 MB demo can be downloaded directly from the publisher's website, where you can also check out the game's trailer and read through the various character profiles.
