Touch Detective 2½ feels like a sequel

With more and more traditional adventures being ported to the DS, Nintendo's acclaimed handheld continues to establish itself as an important adventure platform. Better yet, two of its most popular franchises will soon be getting sequels.

Along with the word that Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney will be released internationally, Atlus USA today announced Touch Detective 2½, a follow-up to the original Touch Detective (released in the UK as Mystery Detective). Due out in North America in time for the holiday season, the new game promises "a longer, overarching storyline, more characters and locations to visit, and various game design enhancements", while still maintaining the quirky humour and atmosphere of the original.

Touch Detective 2½ once again casts players in the role of young Mackenzie, now a full-fledged sleuth but still not receiving the respect she deserves. Over the course of five new interrelated cases, Mackenzie will visit twice as many locations than the original game in order to solve an ever-deepening mystery, meeting all-new characters plus familiar faces like Cromwell, Penelope, and Funghi along the way.
