New Last Half of Darkness title released

Summer may be approaching, but Last Half of Darkness: Beyond the Spirit's Eye promises plenty of chills in the coming weeks, as independent developer WRF Studios has announced the release of its new first-person horror adventure.

The latest installment of the Last Half of Darkness series, following 2005's Shadows of the Servants, Beyond the Spirit's Eye sends players to the deserted town of Shadowcrest, whose inhabitants long ago fell victim to the curse of a black jewel known as the Eye of Arcarous. Brought back by Captain Marcos on his last voyage, the Eye drove Marcos "mad with a bloodthirsty hunger for the living. It was not long before stories of bodies found dead and drained of their blood filled the newspapers along with rumors of a 'vampire' killer."

As players point-and-click their way through the game, they'll soon discover that the town isn't quite so deserted as it first appears, as it's home to a vampiric society that rises when dusk approaches. In order to survive the night, players will need to explore the "ghostly town of shadows and lore to solve the riddles of the darkness left behind."

Last Half of Darkness: Beyond the Spirit's Eye retails for $22.95 USD (plus shipping), and is available directly from the developer's website. A demo of the game is also available for download if you'd prefer to try before you buy.
