Da Vinci Code game confirmed by 2K Games

2K Games has agreed a deal with Sony Pictures for the worldwide publishing rights to a game based on The Da Vinci Code, the best-selling book that is currently being adapted into a Hollywood film.

The gameplay will feature "action-oriented suspense for seasoned gamers and The Da Vinci Code fans alike" and is to be developed by The Collective, the studio responsible for Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the upcoming Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. Broken Sword designer Charles Cecil is also said to be involved in the game's design.

Presumably the Da Vinci game will be more action-oriented than Broken Sword, given The Collective's expertise in the action-adventure genre, though the book's international murder mystery is also an obvious match for an adventure game. Many have compared its exhaustively researched backstory to Gabriel Knight.

More on this game announcement as we hear it.
