Nancy Drew: Shadow Ranch #1 at Amazon

The tenth installment of the venerable Nancy Drew series, Secret of Shadow Ranch, has been very well-received by the buying public in its first week on shelves. As of today, it is the #1 selling PC game on Amazon.com's daily shelves. Not the #1 adventure game, but the #1 PC game overall, jumping ahead of Doom 3 pre-orders. This is certainly a huge achievement for Her Interactive. (see the full Amazon.com PC charts here.

But that's not where the acclaim for Nancy Drew ends. A recent article on GameDaily.com profiled Her Interactive CEO Megan Gaiser and features a wonderful history of the Nancy Drew series.

And that's not all; the #2 most-read newspaper in the United States, the Washington Post, featured an article on the increasing role of females in the gaming landscape on the front page of the Sunday, July 25th edition, with a mention of Gaiser and the Nancy Drew series. We spoke with Gaiser today and she is extremely excited about the future of the series. The eleventh in the series is in development now and big plans are being made for the twelfth game, to be released in 2005 (which is also the 75th anniversary of the Nancy Drew character). Gaiser told us that she feels that they've only just begun to tap the potential of the Nancy Drew market, which now extends from age 10 all the way to age 80. We certainly hope that she's right!
