Vulcan releases updated classics

To commemorate their 10th anniversary, UK-based developer Vulcan Software has released updated versions of their Valhalla adventure game series, originally created for the Amiga platform but now on PC. The series consists of three games which were first developed between 1994 and 1996.

From the Vulcan press release:

These three Valhalla games formed a cult following among its many users and achieved best buy awards from retailers, extensive television coverage and review scores up to 94% in the consumer press. They were not technically ground breaking games by any means but were the first Amiga games to use digital speech extensively.

Vulcan believe the reason they became so popular was that they made you think. They are extremely simple to operate but very complicated in design, this demands a slow approach requiring logical and lateral thinking in order to solve the many devious puzzles.

The trilogy has been split up into twelve downloadable episodes, which can be purchased together or individually from Vulcan's Valhalla Classics website. Vulcan is offering Episode 1: The Crypt for free.
