Ken Williams to meet with VU Games CEO

Ken Williams has told fans on his website that he has initiated contact with Bruce Hack, who was appointed as VU Games' new CEO in January. Williams is, of course, the co-founder and former CEO of Sierra, which now sits under the VU Games umbrella.

"It has been frustrating to watch a company struggle that Roberta and I built over a nearly 20-year period," Ken Williams wrote earlier this month, referring to an article on GamesIndustry.biz that was brought to his attention by Al Lowe. "After reading the news clipping, I called the secretary of the current CEO to request his email address."

On February 22, Ken Williams reported back, saying he'd gotten through to the VU Games current management. "... the VU Games people have, thus far, been amazingly nice and accessible. They seem very open to talking. I think they were nervous at first that I had some ulterior motive in contacting them. It has taken several emails to convince them that I really am not looking for a job -- nor money of any sort."

Williams clearly states that he's not looking to go back into the games business, as he's still enjoying retirement. However, he has offered to help VU Games, which he appears to be cautiously excited about.

"The next step is for us to meet "face to face". That will take a month or two to make happen, but I do believe that we are on track for me to have some voice at Sierra. I'm excited thinking about it, and hope that it works out for them, for me, and most importantly: for all the people who want great games. It's way too soon to say what will emerge from these discussions, but the indications are very good."

Note that all the quotes above are taken from an informal message board, so this isn't to be interpreted as official business news. SierraGamers.com is a website ran by Ken Williams that celebrates Sierra's legacy and facilitates various ways for fans to interact.
