Normally the road to redemption leads through some dark, personally painful places, but that's decidedly not the case in indie developer Benjamin Gregg's upcoming Kumo, a lovely looking 3D adventure that is currently seeking crowdfunding through Kickstarter.

Opposites may attract, but the real secret to lasting friendship is for one companion’s abilities to complement those of the other. In the upcoming 3D puzzle-adventure Weakless, not only does this situation lead to a stronger relationship between the two playable protagonists, it’s also the key to saving an entire civilization: their own.

While the non-gaming world is only just catching onto the fun of escape rooms, we adventure gamers have known it for a long time in virtual form. We'll soon be getting another chance to flex our escape muscles (or more accurately, our escape brains) with DarkStoneDigital's upcoming Our Secret Below.

Most adventure games have you jumping through proverbial hoops to overcome obstacles, but more and more side-scrollers are asking players to leap literal platforms as well in order to progress. The latest of these is Evan's Remains, a puzzle-platformer with visual novel elements currently raising funds on Kickstarter.

The year 2064 may seem like a long way off, but it's coming – or rather coming back – sooner than you think in Neurodiver, the sequel to MidBoss's retro-styled cyberpunk adventure 2064: Read Only Memories.

She's baaaaack! Or perhaps she never really went away. Two decades after the groundbreaking The Blair Witch Project popularized the "found footage" horror movie, the eponymous legend is still going strong, this time in the form of Bloober Team's upcoming Blair Witch.

The solar system is a big, big place, and most of its many mysteries are far beyond our understanding. Good thing for inquiring minds that it's also caught in an endless time loop in Mobius Digital's newly-released Outer Wilds.

Between interactive TV shows like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and games like The Complex, it's getting harder and harder to tell the two apart. Especially when Wales Interactive's upcoming "cinematic FMV sci-fi thriller" is set to include experienced film talent both in front of and behind the camera.

May

Lovecraft and cyberpunk may not be the first match that comes to mind in a word association test, but perhaps that will change next year when indie Turkish developer Stormling Studios releases their horror adventure Transient.

Two of the more memorable characters in D'Avekki Studios' The Shapeshifting Detective were the late night radio hosts heard regularly over the airwaves (and later visited when they become instrumental to the story). Knowing a good thing when they see it, the developers have decide to feature the pair a whole lot more as the titular stars of the upcoming spin-off prequel Dark Nights with Poe and Munro.

What's better than a new game from the creators of Unforeseen Incidents? How about TWO new games from Backwoods Entertainment? Better yet, both of them have recently received funding for various stages of development.

May

The creators of The Unholy Society ask what would happen if "The Exorcist, Preacher, and Constantine had a baby?" We're hoping they mean figuratively, but in any case we'll find out later this year when CAT-astrophe Games releases their debut adventure on PC and consoles.

Carl Jung posited the theory of individuation, in which the subconscious is instrumental in developing our conscious personalities. But what if our inner psyches are tormented by repressed horrors? This is precisely the terrifying scenario facing console gamers this summer when a port of The Inner Friend is released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox following its PC release last year.

Pulse Entertainment's Bad Mojo showed us in 1996 that being an insect can be a lot fun (in a game, that is). Now indie Polish developer Ovid Works is revisiting the concept in their upcoming Kafka-esque environmental puzzler Metamorphosis.

Guns don't kill people... they merely absorb energy and transform it to your benefit. At least, that's what the photon gun in Three Dots' upcoming Portal-style sci-fi adventure INTERPOINT does.
