In Unknown Number, by newly formed British developer godolphin games, one misdialed call is all it takes to plunge you into the deep waters of environmental activism, battling big oil and dodging the police. Here, in what is being billed as a "first person talker," your voice and your charming personality are your two main weapons, as you take calls, shout, whisper, and even sing your way to victory.

True crime stories are fascinating, particularly grisly tales of murder and revenge. Many cities even offer walking tours, regaling tourists with accounts of their most notorious residents. Likewise, mystery games have long taken historical events as inspiration, casting players as the detective charged with at untangling these unsolved dark deeds at long last. The aptly named Australian developer True Crime Games may be the first to combine the two into augmented reality (AR) mobile experiences, bringing their characters to life in real-world locations and putting us both physically and mentally on the criminal's trail.

The latest such studio to do so is the creator of the Cube Escape and Rusty Lake series, whose upcoming The Past Within is the first you will be able to enjoy playing with a friend.

The latest such interactive adventure is The Lonely Assassins, a "found phone" mystery from Kaigan Games, the creators of Sara Is Missing and the SIMULACRA series, coming next month to PC and mobile devices.
