Set in 1899, [i]A Machine for Pigs[/i] follows the wealthy industrialist Oswald Mandus, who has returned home from a disastrous expedition to Mexico that ended in tragedy. Struck by a destructive fever, Mandus is haunted by dreams of a dark machine until he mysteriously regains consciousness. Months have passed, unbeknownst to the industry tycoon, and as he emerges from his slumber the roaring engine of a mysterious machine sputters to life.

As I wake up my head aches and my throat burns. Where am I? How did I get here? Blurry memories of pain and suffering fade in and out as I try to identify my surroundings. There is a vague familiarity to the place but I don't know why. Suddenly, a strong emotion rushes through me and a single memory emerges. Something is hunting me and it is very close. My body fills with a terrifying cold and my mind is wiped empty of all but one thought: I must escape.
