Pearl of Discord extends Hidden Expedition franchise

The rather implausible premise of the story built into this game is that Marco Polo, a Venetian who in the Middle Ages traveled to China and brought back much of cultural value, had devised and set up a “machine” to help prevent flooding in Venice due to its sinking ground. Now in the 20th Century, many people are concerned about the survival of Venice when coastlines are rising. Will a medieval machine be adequate to today?  I rate the puzzles fairly good but often they seem unrelated to the story. As far as I can tell, a number puzzle in the Bonus Chapter (numbers and tiles) has more than one solution, so the prescribed answer is not the only one.  But only the prescribed answer moves the plot along!  The game is fairly easy if you’ve done some similar puzzles in another game.  But there are pesky variations.  Overall I would recommend to PCs.
