I started playing this series because I absolutely love murder mysteries, and so the first two episodes didn’t disappoint. This installment confused me more than anything. Without giving too much away, for most of the game I found myself very, very bored with the petty infighting and financial tribulations of a bunch of characters I had been given absolutely no reason to care even one lick about. The cognition powers however are brilliant as ever, and this installment deserves three stars just for the ending. The last ten minutes of the game are damn near brilliant and more than make up for the change in tone and boredom of the rest of it. Anyone who enjoyed the first two episodes will not be disappointed. As long as you play through to the end.

Strong title getting stronger
I was pretty much instantly impressed and enjoying the Cognition series with the incredible music, pleasant detective gameplay and a serial killer plot.
The third episode improves from the two previous ones by adding depth to the story and to the characters, and introducing new kids of puzzles that are among the most enjoyable (at least) in the last few years.

I must say that I really liked the first 2 episodes of Cognition (they both scored 4 out of 5 by me), however I must say that I LOVED the third instalment. It is actually the best adventure gaming I have done in a very long time when playing a newly released adventure game. The developers almost nailed everything with this game and took the good parts from the past episodes and made them even better. Really fun and fair puzzles to solve in this in this episode, and what I particularly liked was that you play as 2 different characters both in the present and past, which is a really nice way to solve puzzles with help from Erica’s cognition powers. This episode alone is worth waiting for even if you did not like the first 2 episodes. Also the story and the character development are both awesome. 2 thumbs up Phoenix Online, you just became one of my favourite contemporary adventure game studios.
