Get ready for a narrative rollercoaster

Well this story sure has its twists. It’s great to see that the predictable path is not the one the heroes decide to walk on. There are some nice choices you can make along the way and they lead to a nice ending. Some puzzles are more difficult than others but they are usually tide around the story. A nice game that builds upon the awesome reputation of Wadjet Eye Games

Cyperpunk at its best

It is very “I Robot” (more the movie than the book though) and cyperpunk inspired, which is right up my ally Grin In fact if someone had said that William Gibson was involved in this game, then I would have been inclined to believe them.

It is a serious story, but it still has a lot of humour, it is cyperpunk with trance addicts and whatnot, but not as bleak as cyperpunk can sometimes be. The setting allows for a lot of interesting and well designed puzzles, like hacking not only AI but also peoples brains and messing things around in there.

If I have any complains, then it is that the writing can at times fell a bit heavy-handed, and some of the characters are really more of a caricature than real people. There is also a couple of cases where the mechanics of a puzzle interface could have been better communicated to the player.

But overall the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Downright marvelous

I instantly fell in love with the detailed science fiction world of Technobabylon. The progressive plot revealed just enough in each chapter to keep me guessing almost all the way to the closing credits. All endings I found were equally satisfying, though perhaps not as gratifying as progressing before all the pieces were there. The story is quite complex, but coherent and rewarding if one pays attention. I am also impressed by the gorgeous backgrounds and captivating soundtrack. The puzzles are so well balanced that I never got really stuck even though I felt fairly challenged most of the time. In short, this is exactly the kind of game I always hope to find when trying a new title. Please create the sequel hinted at on the commentary track!
