a stylistically alternate take on the prof.layton gameplay model

Telltale Games seem to have a developed a great production model for modern adventure games over the last few years and have picked great existing properties to build on. This game however takes things in a new and original direction. The gameplay is influenced strongly by the fantastic “Professor Layton” DS series of games. So if you’re into them like me, you may enjoy the puzzle/story interplay of ‘Puzzle Agent’.

The setting and art style are completely different tho. The location and accents all reminded me of that hilarious Coen brothers film ‘Fargo’ Wink and the story is surprisingly creepy (I’ll never look at a garden gnome the same way again). I played this game on Mac, but it’s also been released for PC, Wii, iPod & iPhone—and i sometimes felt that the sparse artwork style would actually look more at home on the portable devices.

The voice acting and audio were superb. it only takes 5-6 hours to play thru (and is appropriately priced). If you feel like a bit of puzzle solving and a fun, quirky, creepy little story, definitely get hold of this Smile
