Most illogical puzzles, need help making a list
Hi all !
I’m about to start producing a video for my youtube channel, on the most illogical puzzles found in graphic adventure games, and of course, the first place I thought about was this incredibly knowledgeable community.
Something like a top 10 of the worst puzzles. The idea is that there’s little to no context to the solution to the puzzle, not just hard puzzles. Those puzzles that are WTF, how am I supposed to deduce that?
Here are the worsts I can remember:
1) Alone in the Dark 3: Shooting a door so that somehow it opens (Carnby says it’s Santa).
2) Runaway: There’s a wrench in a container full of mud, so the obvious solution is to throw a pot of dirt from a balcony so that the wrench gets out.
3) Zork 2: That baseball maze, which makes no sense in a lot of levels.
4) King’s Quest: That Rumplestinkin backwards puzzle, that I read somewhere that they somehow mispelled the correct name, making it almost impossible to solve.
5) King’s Quest V: The whole game, but I will stick to either the throw pie to the yeti, or the “wait some random time between 1 to 5 minutes” in the library.
I was tempted to include Monkey Island 2 infamous monkey wrench puzzle, but it’s very famous, and it has some kind of logic to it (at least to north american speakers).
Any ideas ? I will of course credit everyone who helps building this list.
Thanks,
There are a number of lousy puzzles in The Mystery Of The Druids but I’ll content myself with what is normally considered the worst:
Stealing small change from a beggar so that a Scotland Yard detective can make a phone call from a public telephone box.
Life is what it is.

Thanks for the link, but I want your opinions, not just take a list from a website
Not sure I understand. Is the question what is the hardest puzzle you’ve ever been asked to solve without the benefit of a walkthrough. There are scads of those I could name. If the most illogical, but one that makes sense once you’ve solved it, then the goat puzzle has to be number one.
For whom the games toll,
they toll for thee.

come on, the goat puzzle is not that terrible ..
Neither of those, I mean puzzles that make no sense, even after completing them. Completely illogical, like the examples I gave in the first post.
This has been asked several times on these forums.

As a topic it’s been done to death, too, so you may want to look for another angle to draw traffic.
