Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Sunday 29 March 2015
Third-person sci-fi adventure Chronomaster (1995) was developed by DreamForge, the same company that gave us Sanitarium, but it hardly ever gets mentioned. I’ll nominate it for the next list of underrated adventures, although it’s not as good as Sanitarium.
The story was written by the late Zelazny and he created some truly crazy fantasy worlds, each with their own themes and types of puzzles. You visit so-called pocket universes which have been shut down by persons unknown, so they are frozen in time. It’s your job to get them functional again. To move around in these bizarre worlds you need bottled time. (Such a cool idea! Can I have a few crates, please. At my age I’d like to stock up on bottled time.) You move around in a kind of time bubble and everything you touch comes to life, with good or bad consequences. You also need a lot of time to finish this game. It’s long and I found many puzzles quite hard.

That screenshot has a certain Obsidian feel to it. Is everything this kind of interesting weird in the game?
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
Looks interesting, this screenshot reminds me of this room from Sanitarium

Like I said, crazy and bizar worlds. Some more than others. But none of them remind me of Obsidian.

Like you said, Karlok, good game but with some very hard puzzles. Not to mention a MAZE!!! That was hard. I hate mazes in games.
