The Crystal Key (1999) is a sci-fi Myst clone with symbols, levers, codes, inventory objects. To refresh my memory of the Crystal Key worlds I read the AG review. Only 1.5 stars! Ouch. Frown I think it deserves much better. The puzzles were just the way I like them - not too hard. The graphics are nice, but you spend most of your time indoors in dark basements, cells, labs, spaceshuttles. It was a relief to get outside every once in a while.

The Crystal Key was among the first 6 games I ever played.  I liked the puzzles, but I remember getting switched around when trying to navigate in the jungle and aboard Ozgar’s ship.  Also, I remember overlooking a necessary object (a projector, I think), because it only appeared at the bottom of the screen until I clicked on it.  It also took me a while to get the good ending that saved the Arkonians.  There are a bunch of endgame possibilites, and most of them are bad.

The first thing I think about when hearing about Crystal Key, are zobraks’ hints for its title when no one could guess the screenshot:
