Seemed like a good idea to me to move the James Bond posts to a new thread under Chit Chat.

Match 4: Tex Murphy: Pandora Directive - It’s like choosing between Moore’s and Craig’s Bond, the latter simply doesn’t stand a chance (involving Connery would be an insult)

You prefer even Roger Moore over Daniel Craig?
Oh my…

(Ok Moore should have quit after For Your Eyes Only, but in all honesty Lazenby is heavily underrated)

What is wrong with Craig? He is one of the best Bonds imo….a much grittier and lethal character, much more in line with the books, especially when compared to the performances of Moore and Brosnan.

I do agree that Connery is king, but surely Craig is the prince Tongue

What is wrong with Craig?

What is wrong with Craig?

Craig (as Bond) sucks big-time, and is by far the worst Bond .. EVER .. past, present and future Sick

They turned Bond into just another action hero among umpteen other action heroes, without any of the charm or other things that made Bond and the Bond movies special.

I refuse to prove that I exist, says God, for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.
But, say Man, the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn’t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don’t. QED.
Oh dear, says God, I hadn’t thought of that, and promply vanishes in a puff of logic.

Sorry for the off-topic, but I can’t NOT reply to talk about Bond.

My favourite Bond actors:

Connery: first and possibly best
Dalton: very underrated - two great films that were actually more realistic again after the farce that was the (later) Moore movies
Craig: as suave as can be in a more gritty style, I love it (plus he starred in two of the absolute best Bond films)
Brosnan: underrated as Bond, had the disadvantage of being in crap films (apart from GoldenEye, that one was awesome and may even be my favourite of the lot)
Moore: I disliked the fact that they went far too comedic with the movies when Moore was starring - it just didn’t fit as well
Lazenby: I seriously disliked On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, so much in fact that it greatly hurt Lazenby’s chances. Maybe if he’d played more films, I’d rank him higher, but he didn’t, so I won’t.

Connery ~ Dalton ~ Craig >>> Brosnan >>>>>>>>>> Moore > Lazenby

Casino Royale is probably the best Bond movie there is and this is from a Sean Connery fan. I can’t understand the Craig hate. I wasn’t overjoyed when I heard about the choice but he was surprisingly good. Also the tone on the newer films is much better than what it’s been with Brosnan (basically only Golden Eye was a good movie by him, the rest has been pretty embarrasing and/or forgettable). I think it’s about time to renew franchises in every 20 years or so, this reboot took 40 years.

Smile Good, now I can ask. Who is Nelson?

Barry Nelson was the very first actor to portray James Bond in a made-for-TV adaptation of Casino Royale. I believe this was about a decade before Connery starred in Dr. No.

I consider both Nelson and Niven to be unofficial, though. Only the ‘official’ movie actors count for me.

Bonds that I like are Connery, Dalton (totally underrated, I agree!) and Brosnan.

I don’t like Moore at all, Lazenby is totally forgettable to me (I literally don’t remember his performance) and Craig, while giving a good performance, doesn’t feel like Bond to me. Only in his third movie there were one or two moments where I felt like I was watching a Bond movie (which, of course, is a lot thanks to the director and writers etc. as well).
