Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Thursday 14 August 2014
Johnny Mnemonic (1995) is a cyberpunk game based on a movie with Keanu Reeves. Poor Johnny has data implanted in his brain which he must deliver in time or die. My expectations of this hybrid FMV game were fairly high. I was wrong. Running, Japanese scumbags, lots and lots of chaotic fighting, some conversations, more fighting and running. Terrible.
Lucky Eddie SuperEdy used to complain about JM, a lot.
I reckon it IS a terrible game.
I wonder what happened to SuperEdy and his magnificent quiz site.
The human race is doomed to progress.
It really was bad. I remember nothing about it other than that.
The film was also bad and a waste of a decent sci-fi idea tbh. The Spoony video on the game was entertaining though.
Games based on movies are rarely good (Blade Runner an exception), so a bad game based on a movie based on a book is not very surprising.
