Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Friday 9 May 2014
There’s a dead man’s body on the floor with a crumpled note still clutched in his hand. It’s just one of the mysteries awaiting you in Noir: A Shadowy Thriller (1996), a completely black & white photo-based game with FMV that tries to evoke the feeling of those old crime movies of the 1940s.
Unfortunately, it falls a bit flat. Like many photo based games, the developers didn’t seem to know when to stop taking pictures. We don’t really need close-ups of the hundreds of things we can’t interactive with. It can also make navigation rather tedious at times. The game also doesn’t offer up much of a challenge either, with most things being done for you automatically. I was hoping for something better.
Oh no, they left the fridge open! The milk is gonna spoil!!!
