Inventory heavy adventure games

What adventure games do you think have most inventory items? (Counting of course would prove problematic with some games having multiple instances of same item and in some game you have to earn money constantly , so in those games counting money as single inventory item really isn’t right.) I remember trying to count items in past. Both GK1 and DOTT seemed extremly inventory heavy.

Return to Mysterious Island, where you end up with pages and pages of items. The game is all about collecting and using many eggs, herbs, pieces of cloth, etcetera. Loved it!

Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None also has a lot of inventory items.

Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge had a large amount as well.

Discworld 1 and 2

Argh, i have forgotten that Discworld 1 proved that nonlinearity can become bad thing when you lost in big gameworld with huge inventory.

...illogical puzzles and “This doesn’t work” response for every wrong move Smile

Dreamweb had inventory limitations, but the number of objects you could pick up was insane.

The Arrival (1997)
At one point I had 3 screens worth of very small items. Because of their small size, lots of them fit on each screen.
You could pick up items you didn’t need—and once you picked them up you could never get rid of them.

Jack Orlando had a ton of red herring inventory items.

Max: Right! We’ll travel through this dimensional portal on the top of the bar!
Sam: That’s spilled beer, rockhead.

Return to Mysterious Island 2 was VERY Inventory heavy. Sometimes adventure games make me laugh due to how unrealistic it is to be carrying the amount and type of items around (large ladders, etc).

I enjoy playing adventure games on my Alienware M17 r4 and my Nintendo Switch OLED.

Also, for reference, I only counted items that have unique icons/names. If the same graphic is used over and over again, then I only counted it once. I also included all state changes.

I actually just saw an episode of Doctor Who, where this is explained… Apparently his pockets are bigger on the inside then on the outside Wink

No, actually it’s a sci-fi game in which you remotely control a robotic drone thingamabob. I don’t remember exactly what the items were, but they were fictional tech doodads.

Gilbert Goodmate also had a lot of inventory

Some of it was completely pointless and unusable.
