Where did this come from???

LAST LIFE is a sci-fi noir adventure game for PC, Mac and Linux about a transhumanist colony on Mars.  When a murdered detective is 3D printed back into existence, he reopens his last case to uncover what he missed—a hunt that reveals AI corruption, corporate espionage, and the conspiracy that may have led to Earth’s doom.

Ha ha. Another scifi noir. Not that I complain. My wallet does though.

Blooming fraud, this has clearly been downgraded from the last time it was shown. Neogaf should be aflame with pimply rage.

Pre April Footage

New Footage

Clearly all sorts of shenannigans have been going on..

An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

I think it’s more or less a publishing partnership, yeah. Seems to be part of the new “Double Fine Presents” initiative to partner with interesting indies, like with Escape Goat 2.

These clarify a bit:
Justin Bailey interview, U.S. Gamer (doesn’t specifically mention Last Life, but see the “First Stop or Last Stop?” section)
Sam Farmer interview, Rock Paper Shotgun (see Double Fine-related questions)

Kidding aside there has been like 35 games that have this kind of noir setting and on half of them the protagonist is dead. It’s a somewhat common element in noir and pretty cool gimmick but it seems that when it rains it pours.

And I’m backing anyway.

I actually think the game looks pretty cool, similarities to Murdered Soul Suspect or not.

At least Double Fine is clear up front thins time that this is an episodic game. The kickstarter goal is just for Episode 1, but I assume if it blows past that number that it could fund the other two episodes in stretch goals.
