Seems the Sierra “classic” is getting a low budget horror movie.

KELLY OVERTON from TRUE BLOOD and THE RING TWO will be joining the PHANTASMAGORIA: THE MOVIE cast as ADRIENNE! Very excited to have FINALLY found our Adrienne! Now the search for Don continues!

We are VERY excited to announce that the role of MARIE (Zolton’s last wife) will be play by the very talented Mischa Barton!

An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

I’m all for that. it’s always been a quilty pleasure of mine. A bad game, but delightfully cheesy horror story.

AWESOME! Thanks for sharing—I’m super excited for this! Hopefully this trend continues. Although, I wonder how they got the rights to Phantasmagoria.

Mischa Barton is in the WORST movies these days, I’ve seen a few and they’re all low budget with half arsed acting. She’s quite like Lindsey Lohan these days.. went very downhill after her initial success in The O.C.  I know Phantasmagoria was pretty cheesy but that was part of the charm of those games during that time. Trust me.. this movie is going to be terrible Meh I wouldn’t get excited about it until she see some promos.

Terrible? Of course it’s going to be terrible. It’s Phantasmagoria.

Still could be fun…if they go about it the right way.

(Of course, hiring Mischa Barton isn’t exactly the best way to go about making your movie “fun”. Tongue Wink)

LOL, but I LOVE cheesy low budget 80s horror movies! I hope this will be so bad it’s good!

But they’re not exactly top talent either… Meh

Edit: just noticed Miriam Margolyes will be in it too. That’s better. Cool
Will most likely just be a bit part, though.

I hope so too, but at the moment I fear it’s going to be so bad it’s terrible… Meh

Yeah, Miriam Margolyes was the one that jumped out at me too. I still remember her fondly from the 1980s (BBC?) production of A Little Princess.

My guess is: less than 10 minutes of screen time. I’d call that a bit part.
I’d be happy to be proven wrong - she has great comedic timing and could add to the camp.

As if this wasn’t weird enough, apparently it branches:

Based on the cult hit video game which introduced the “choose your own adventure” game play style, there will be two completely different versions of the film, using the same characters and initial opening but then following a different, unique, twisted adventure with opposite outcomes.

Adventure 1: the horror-salvation version / Adventure 2: the thriller-demise version

Is this the first time a movie has been based on an original adventure game? Another first for Roberta?

Very cool. It would have been so awesome if Roberta could have made a cameo.

Maybe Sierra will come out with a new Phantasmagoria now that ActiVision is revisiting classic Sierra series.

Well… yes and no.
