The Whispered World- similar games
Greetings, fellow adventurers! I’ve recently decided to rekindle my love for adventure games and stumbled across ‘The Whispered World’. Needless to say, the game got me enthralled
Does anyone know a very similar, yet rather ‘little known’ title? By similar I mean a game with equally enchanting and immersive world and storyline ( The Longest Journey, Syberia, Broken Sword); by ‘little known’ I mean…well, games not like The Longest Journey, Syberia and Broken Sword
Games that have not come to general attention and haven’t gained a wide-spread critical acclaim, but which nevertheless are worth playing. ( Perhaps I do not follow news from the world of adventure games regularly enough, but I found ‘The Whispered World’ to be exactly this kind of game - splendid, yet relatively obscure and unappreciated)

They’re all adventures that take place in a fantasy world, if that’s what you’re looking for. There’s an upcoming Whispered World 2, but that won’t be ready for some time.
Thank you crabapple, that’s exactly what I’m looking for! Much appreciated If anyone has some more games likes these, I’d be grateful if you shared them:)
Torin’s Passage is very similar and little-known

I believe it was the main inspiration for Whispered World (not counting Curse of Monkey Island).
PC means personal computer
Not new, but Torin’s Passage might be quite similar to The Whispered World - it’s a fantasy adventure, and you’re accompanied by a cat-like sidekick which can morph into other things.
Out of more recent titles, Keepsake has a similar sort-of melancholy atmosphere spread throughout, but while it is a 3rd-person and you have a sidekick, puzzles are really on the Myst-clone side.
The Inner World also looks quite reminiscent of TWW to me.
EDIT: @Doom Great minds…

Night of the Rabbit
Lost Horizon
Discworld 2
Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island
You’d also might like the Runaway series and other games from Pendulo Studios, another company who, like Daedalic (the creators of The Whispered World), specializes in beatifully detailed, hand drawn backgrounds.
Duckman: Can you believe it? Five hundred bucks for a parking ticket?
Cornfed Pig: You parked in a handicapped zone.
Duckman: Who cares? Nobody parks there anyway, except for the people who are supposed to park there and, hell, I can outrun them anytime.
Even though it perhaps haven’t “come to general attention and haven’t gained a wide-spread critical acclaim” among non-adventuregamers, then I still wouldn’t call The Whispered World “relatively obscure and unappreciated”. Daedalic Entertainment the creators of TWW, has established themselves as both the most productive and best know adventure game company since the Sierra and LucasArts day.
Anyway it sounds like the best place for you to start, would be the other games from Daedalic, especially The Dark Eye series (already mentioned by crabapple): Chains of Satinav and Memoria sounds like something you would enjoy and is something I can highly recommend.
But A New Beginning and Night of the Rabbit are also quite good games, though not quite as good as TWW and The Dark Eye series imo.
If you want something humorous then I can also highly recommend the Edna and Harvey series: The Breakout and Harvey’s New Eyes, don’t get fooled by the simple graphics, it is some great and very funny games, but many discard them because of the graphics. Also the Deponia series: Deponia, Chaos on Deponia and Goodbye Deponia is very funny and something I personally enjoyed a lot.
And that is just the games from Daedalic , there are also many from other companies but I will only mention two more for now: The Cat Lady an excellent game with an unusual and very mature story that everybody should really give a try, and Book of Unwritten Tales a very funny game set in a fantasy setting.
You have to play the game, to find out why you are playing the game! - eXistenZ
The Inner World seems to be quite similar to The Whispered World.
