Community Playthrough #26: The Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time
I’m ready to go… if I never have to pay the boatman another coin I will be a happy gamer
My stomach hurts from laughing so hard at Arthur hints before the pool puzzle. YES! I’ve finally nicked the talisman from that little brat. Can’t believe what I missed to do - “didn’t catch” the shaman image, and somehow later supposed you can’t do that
Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
Lil…I missed getting the image of the shaman at first too. :-)

As did I. I thought for sure the kid would give the talisman to his Dad or his favorite temple guy, but nnooo

Welcome to the club, you guys!
God, there’s no place to drop a needle in this club.
The game creators obviously f***ed the whole lot of us.
I reckon we all failed to do the right thing because
the stupid showman shaman was introduced in a cutscene, unlike all the other characters
.
Otherwise we would get his image automatically, since you have to click on a person to speak with them and the target icon appears before the talk icon.

Due to friggin’ pool puzzle technical difficulties, we’re expecting to start the next part of the playthrough in a few hours. In the meantime, enjoy the musical intermezzo:
Take a look in the pool and what do you see
In the dark depths there faces beckoning me
...
Hours I spend out just gazing into that pool
Something draws me there I don’t know what to do.
Nightmares…spirits calling me

Whew! That should be the last of the elemental guardians! Well, you’re free (yeah, like you haven’t peeked already) to roam the ground (and underground) of Himalayas.
We’ll be searching for the third piece of artifact and then ending the game until Sunday, February 16, so those who have fallen behind (or are at the beginning) can still catch up.

As far as I know we HAD to roam Himalayan Mountains in search of something sharp to cut the baloon rope.
It was not just a whim.

Yeah, but I KNOW that you peeked further beyond that. Met any historical figures yet?

BTW, both the game designers, AND Arthur are going on my “People to kill” list
First, Arthur “hinted” that the heads at the pool are just like those at the temple, and I thought he spoiled the puzzle for me. Not that he didn’t spoil it, but it was one BIG red-herring (similar to Chains of Satinav, and the stone circle puzzle) and I spent the whole day looking at the
wall in the temple, listening to Shaman’s story all over again, until I could write the doctorate thesis on spirits. Also, I’ve figured the 4 elemental guardians at the first wall should be the “code” for the pool heads. I tried the order like depicted at the mural, span it around in all possible ways, rotated it… nothing seemed to help. To add to the confusion, two additional spirits were at that mural, so I’ve tried every possible combination including them, as well. Needless to say - it was all BEFORE I’ve solved the shaman balloon puzzle Only when I gave up on the pool, and listened to the first Arthur’s hint on balloon puzzle I’ve progressed. (actually, I had an idea of reading this Wiki article
to help me solve the puzzle, but thought it was a long shot. Perhaps it would have really gave me the idea on how to start the fire. After the balloon ride I could hear the laugh from the designers, from Shaman, a giggle from the boy in his sleep… for me overthinking it.

o Why didn’t these morons solve the pool puzzle themselves???
You mean, between the original talisman holder who takes visits from no one, and a dopey kid who is giving it only to Shaman? It was doomed from the start.

Aaargghhh!!!I try to explore the tunnels (maze?) under the temple and I keep beaten by that stupid Mongolian with his stupid hammer! And backstabbing him is no option! At least I found a way to cross the other side without using the bridge. Hehehe…
I’m also really enjoying Arthur’s hints. I was too stubborn to use them the first time I played. Some of his best lines are among the hints.
I think that’s one of the reasons why the game is tagged “easy” in majority of reviews. It’s no Timelapse/Black Dahlia, but it’s got one of the most “integral” hint-systems which makes things more understandable. That’s why I tried to resist using the hints, though one can’t resist the urge all the time.
