Omikron: The Nomad Soul

For Shenmue it is incomplete and there is high demand to finish the story.
Ended with cliffhangers, Sega ran out of budget.

For Omikron, the sequel Omikron:Karma was in works, along with Infraworld.
Cage promised to return but after HeavyRain success made another QTE fest
called Beyond which is actually new name for Infraworld.

Omirkon world is recurring, like a demon will return for the hero
to save, now the whole journey and adventure is in between this Meta steup.

In other worlds countless stories can be told and new worlds can be created.

Omikron theme can have sensible sequels or Prequels and link each game loosely if not directly.

For timeline of events and probably cancellation

And my question to Davidcage when he was here on these forums way back, he said this.

nomadsoul: Now Fahrenheit is done and selling well. Which game you are making now and release next: Omikron2, Infraworld or IP sequel???

David Cage: As Karma is a very long and complex title, it is likely that we will release another Interactive Drama game before.
With Karma, the ambition is to create a city that is really interactive, with a massive crowd with a believable behaviour, physics everywhere, and the possibility to actually “live” in the city, with bars, restaurants, book stores, apartments, etc.
I don’t want to say too much right now about Karma, as we are just at the beging. All I can say is that AI and physics will play a very significant part in a way that I have not seen in a game yet.

Since he has done the scriptwork already, i wont be surprised if he will use its themes in future games (like Beyond) or just name it Karma.

I think its huge undertaking now, but i also think that with Sony’s support , Cage can somehow revive it with PS4 social aspects/Multiplayer. Sandbox world with connected
interactive Drama(like Hrain interactions if he is still inclined), will fare better than Beyond.

The technology is there for them to make the sequel they envisioned or at least an open-world sci-fi game but I’m not sure Sony would fund it. I think David Cage will continue to explore around the same themes in the interactive dramas.

But it’s sad, Omikron was definitely a game that deserved a sequel and would benefit a lot from new tech.

Personally I’d love to see a proper sequel, but the idea of QTE Omikron sounds absolutely horrible. Varied and complex gameplay is what made Omikron a cult masterpiece. If Cage can come up with the original (polished, of course) gameplay and Karma concepts, that would be perfect. But if he is planning to make more of those movies, there’s no point. He’ll have better luck with more “real” universes and settings.

Unless he gets David Bowie on board again for added Awesome™... Tongue
And maybe let Duncan Jones (Bowie’s son) direct??? Cool

Bowie was, of course, a nice addition, but it was Xavier Despas who made the game sound so cool and atmospheric Heart

Just played the supermarket shootout. The controls really are impressively bad.

I lost to the goons and got revived somehow.
Later chapters Mechfights are even more frustrating.

Good thing is that some of the new characters later you can dive into,
have different stats for fighting and maybe shooting. So make
your choice properly.

And if you die at some scenes and if its not populated place than you will
die, otherwise some other soul/character will touch you and you can
continue. This results in different scenarios and extra custscenes.

Someone pieced together these clues , plot thickens Smile

PS4
Working title: Singularity
Insider teased it will be based on the Kara tech demo (sci-fi, robots)
Job postings pretty much confirm sci-fi
Some form of online/multiplayer
Possibly open world Omikron style (job postings looking for AI designers strongly hint at this)
3 writers working on it indicating a lot of branching, dialogue or content in general
In active development since August 2012 by a second team (reveal likely in 2014)

2 more things

As cage said earlier, he has written quite alot of script.
Also he said next project is so huge he cannot do all the writing, so the new writers.
Which also gives hope for better writing. Tongue

We need sci-fi open-world games.
