It would have been a better move for them to buy before it was released in every Playstation console, at least it would have remained exclusive for consoles on Xbox.
Now I don’t it’s possible to replicate the success on sequels, kids games market is hard, will they keep buying sequels? probably better to keep selling skins for kids to buy…

Can’t really blame Notch, apparently everybody does have a price, his is 2 billion Smile (If this is really happening)

Notch himself made the move Confused

He realises he is a one hit wonder and will never replicate a hit this big so is deciding to cash out.

An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

I’d be laughing to the bank if I was Notch and this did happen. All this will do is annoy gamers who hate this “buy exclusivity” and narrow potential sequels to one or two platforms.

M$ bought Mojang for 2.5 billion.

And

The founders: Notch, Carl, and Jakob are leaving. We don’t know what they’re planning. It won’t be Minecraft-related but it will probably be cool.

Inb4 Notch next game being Sony xclusive. Tongue

So Notch (and the others) wanted out and they sold to the highest bidder. Nothing wrong with that and not a lot of companies can actually pay 2.5 billion dollars for a the Minecraft name. What an insane amount, just saying sounds ridiculous Smile, didn’t Disney pay 4 billion for Star Wars and the same for Marvel?

Minecraft single-handedly shat on everything Mario and whatnot, i think its right amount.

Notch made a really good last Farewell post.

I like his attitude and character.

2.5 billion…jeez. The bloke will be using it for toilet paper.

Glad to hear MS aren’t restricting it to just their platforms though.

Let’s not get carried away Smile, Minecraft is one of the biggest individual game seller but Mario it still the biggest game franchise ever but I’m sure Microsoft will go on to expand and maximize profit in the Minecraft franchise and eventually reach big profit.

Read that, I agree, seemed sincere, Minecraft was stressing him out and he was not that attached to the series. Might as well leave with a full wallet.

MS have said they expect to break even with Mojang by the end of the 2015 fiscal year.

That must be one heck of a deal with the devil if true.

Mojang had a profit of 100 million last year and Microsoft expects to break even in fiscal year 2015? I don’t get how this works… Meh

Converted to good old British it’s £1,540,775,075.00 (1.5 billion) of which Notch owns about 70% of the company giving him about £1,078,542,552.50.

So before tax etc he will probably get about £1 billion.

Basically slumming it Grin

The poor bloke. We should pass a bucket around to support him. I have no doubt his next project will appear on kickstarter. Smile
