Was it? I thought it was rather good, or at least as good as the other instalments. Wasn’t a huge fan of the series anyway.

And if you include SWAT, you’d also have to include LSL: Magna Cum Laude, so the whole “high note” thing would be a bit pointless.

Indeed, it does depend on where the line is drawn.

PQ was always a clunky series, mainly because Walls wasn’t that good storyteller or game designer. He knew his policing business, but as much as I like PQ1, PQ2 and PQ3, none of them presents amazing game design or writing.

PQ4 just feels extremely off to me in every way. It tries to mimick what Walls games were, but it never manages to make those same cop show cliches mixed with dead pan accurate procedure following any fun.

I kinda hope they redo the others in this way before tackling the biggie… the totally new Larry 8, which I think was once tentatively titled Lust in Space.

Did you read the interview AG just did with Al Lowe?

It kinda gave me the impression that, had ‘Lust in Space’ been made, it would probably have been the title that jumped the shark. That leads me to think that a NEW Larry 8 game would probably toss anything ‘Lust in Space’ out the window…

As for the entire remake discussion: I agree that going beyond Larry 3 is unnecessary.
Of course, I’d personally prefer they went immediately to new material after Reloaded, but if remakes are needed to obtain the license for it, then 2 and 3 should suffice.

Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka

I think since the Kickstarter, they’ve gotten the rights to the series outright, so there’s no more “licensing” from anyone. I think it’s more about financing than anything. They’re over-budget on Reloaded and probably paid quite a bit for the Larry rights, so I don’t know if they have the capital to do a full-fledged “Larry 8” yet.

Replay is still leasing the rights to Larry from Codemasters; that hasn’t changed…

...at least, not yet!

Ah, too bad. Since you were going ahead with the Casino thing, I jumped to conclusions.

Let me tell you, for as frustrating as it was sometimes - I loved the hell out of Lesuire Suit Larry 2.  Probably because I spent so much time figuring things out!  Over 20 years later, and I still want to play an onklunk. I’d love to see how this team tackles that - redesigning some of the dead ends and odds and sods, and retains the fun of the spy adventure.  This is purely for my selfish reasons, though, cause I love that game.

About what is next? is it Larry2 or 8 or 4 or even skipping a part and jump to Larry3 :

All these are good talk, i don’t think anyone of Larry’s series fans would care much as long as Larry is shinning up again , but they all goes down in two options eventually ; NEW or REMAKE and sure New as it would sound great to the ears , but to think of the time of the development and writing (Kitchen) for making a new larry sound like a nightmare (it would take long if i wanted to explain why do i see it like that)  i am saying that because larry as much as he looks like a one stereotype i’d rather see him becoming more of an Archetype to see him developing himself with every new episode/part , maybe to be more mature and not just the one larry which is always expected from part to the other without even the slightest change , through from the 6 parts that are made and by some little changes he can become more interesting and (yes) experienced ; a guy who start his story looking for only sex that he loses his virginity to one shanky hooker to a hero or a sex symbol at the end (imagine ...lol) but why not ,and for that i see seriously making Larry2 is the most important thing that Al and Josh should be thinking of ,bear in mind also that this was the only part that larry had that kind of a drift from the traditional larry loser toward engaging him at one of those accidental hero’s themes.
Maybe with some spices added to his character one can feel/get emotional with him .
at larry2,there is that kind of loneliness atmosphere which can be a good breeding ground to take larry into a new direction; story with depth without losing the LSL core/basic idea… imo,IMO. Grin

I didn’t back this game but I must admit, it’s looking good. The artwork, at least. I’m not sure the art alone will convince me to play it, but you never know.

LSL2 is the game in the series that needs the remkae most badly actually. It’s such a broken game with all the dead end situations that if I wouldn’t remember how to play it through by heart it would be a frustrating game.

Agree
the most frustrating puzzle at LSL2 (which frustrating is not enough to describe it) is at the ship were you gotta steal the needle and thread from your the neighbour cabin there was no logic that i never understood you open the door and she catches you and you are busted not even a chance to retreat like at the early KQ’s games with the wizard , even if you get the chance to get close to the drawer you can be be caught either before opening it or at your way out, i remember that this one puzzle that made me just wanting to let go of the game.

The one that was even worse for me was when you have to change out of the bikini and back into your suit during the breif one-second period between walking off-screen on the cliffs, but before the airport scene loads. Even if you know what to do, it’s easy to mess up.

The design choices in that game are ponderous. The dead ends are just the start.

There’s so much to fix in LSL2, that they could just as well pass it out as an entirely new game instead of a remake after they’ve done with it.

Yeah, they’re almost better off keeping the story and some of the gags and a few puzzles and just redoing the rest from scratch. They less burdened they are by the old design choices the better.
