Unforeseen Incidents is dystopian, so kind of fits Smile It has its quirks, but overall a good game!

STASIS might not be post-apocalyptic, but the developers’ follow-up Beautiful Desolation definitely is:

Some of Jonas Kyratzes’ games would count too - definitely Last Rose in a Desert Garden, possibly The Infinite Ocean and Talos Principle too:

Wanda: A Beautiful Apocalypse (clue in the subtitle there) is a rather clunky but sweet game about two robots exploring a post-apocalyptic world:

I haven’t played it yet but I believe Richard & Alice is a post-apocalyptic game which may interest you.

Steam:

It’s already been suggested but I’ll second I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.  Last act aside, it’s fantastic (and fantastically disturbing).  It’s one of my favourite adventure games, to the point that I did a reading of AM’s hate speech.

I have played it! You are correct - it is indeed post-apocalyptic and very good (if very dark).

The Tex Murphy series, look no further. And Woodruff and the Schnibble of Azimuth, of course. Those two are also great because they mix post-apocalypse with a lot of humour.

Dark Earth is the best post-apocalyptic game I have ever played. It has some action elements though, similar to Alone in the dark.

I should definitely check out then. Cheers!

Post apcolypse is after the atomic bombs drop, zombies eat everyone, etc. No tech level increase.

Cyberpunk is a separate genre completely, high tech, low life.

For the best post apcoplyse,  see Walking Dead, Season 1 and Shardlight

That increase can happen, especially if the cause of the apocalypse is machines.
Terminator, Battlestar Galactica, etc.

Machines taking over without any bombs and stuff can be an apocalyptic event in and by itself, as it’s apocalypse from a human point of view.

“Reset” is definitely PA.  You’re a robot who desperately needs a new head to restore the world.

I played the demo and it looks pretty good.

I so wish I could play dark earth again.  That is definitely post apocalyptic and as i recall has some low-tech steampunkesc elements where society has reverted back to mysticism and worships the sun since there is so little of it that actually still hits the earth… but, it is one of those games that is SO HARD to get working on modern machines.  All of those win95/98 early 3d accelerator era games require so much pain to run, if they still run at all.

I am one of the many Reset backers. Here’s the gist of the news about the release date from the most recent updates the developers posted. Only six updates in almost three years.

04-06-2016 Reset development heads into the home stretch (September/October target for release).
13-09-2016 This is it guys. Last push. Wohoo!
18-12-2016 With only two days away from our intended release we have to uphold traditions and push back the date. […] For the past months we’ve been knee deep in finalizing the game.
09-03-2017 Sooooorry for being super quiet again. News on the launch coming soon.
12-04-2017  More news on the release next week.

10 months of silence…

14-02-2018 For some reason people think we’ve come this far to quit. Might have something to do with our delays. And our lack of online presence. Well friends, we haven’t.

11 months of silence…
I’ll be polite and call it vaporware.

See you around, wolf. Nerissa

It’s not quite the same of course, but I found a you tube Let’s Play for it.

I ran into the same problem.  I’ve wanted to play Drowned God (1998) and tried it on my ancient machine full of old games.  Even that had problems with the sound and the tiny picture was ridiculous.  The Let’s Play for it is a large screen with great resolution and I’m impressed with the look and length of the game itself.
