Personally I find Escape to be the 4th best Monkey Island game. And since it works nicely in ResidualVM, it will eventually get a digital release.

If they ever do release Escape, I do hope they’ll do alternative control methods for it. And I wouldn’t mind for them to amp up the 3D model fidelity while they’re at it.
But other than that, what I remember of it, I recall it actually was a pretty fun game. Even the much-maligned Monkey Kombat wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t a great puzzle, just a simple exercise in trial and error that I don’t remember ever taking that long to plough through.
Thinking back on Escape my gripes are all technical: bad controls, ugly graphics and a lot of asset reuse. They can fix 2 out of the 3 easily.
The monkey combat puzzle gripe is about the final confrontation, not the insult-like sequence earlier in the game. I didn’t have a problem with the puzzle but I can understand people who feel it was done poorly.
Let’s not pretend Curse is so perfect - shooting cannons and duelling banjos ring any bells? The puzzles in Escape were more clever.
Banjo match was one of best moment in AGs ever let alone MI

Escape is by far the worst MK of the lot. Monkey Kombat, Marco Polo, etc.. the list just keeps going.
MI2 > MI 1 > Curse >>> Tales >>> Escape. That’s how I would rank them.

This would be true if Escape was a Mortal Kombat game

Lol, I was thinking Monkey Kombat and that’s how it got all mixed up in my brain, but I fixed it before your post 
Thinking about it some more, I would choose Tales > Escape and not >>>. It is debatable which of these 2 are better, but most of us can agree that they are not in the same league as the original trilogy.

No shame in that, same here.
I do know that I am heavily, HEAVILY biased by it being the first one of the bunch I’ve played, and being the first adventure game I played on my brand-spanking new 120 Mhz 16MB of RAM Pentium One. And by the fact that I’ve always adored cartoons and video games, and Curse is pretty much the best marriage of the two in existence.
The first two are admittedly superior with regard to sheer game design magnificence, but Curse gave us Dominic Armato.
