Adventure Game Scene of the Day - Monday 03 November 2014
Apart from the intriguing plot in Versailles II: Testament of the King (2001) I loved the immersion into the grand & flamboyant world of the French court of 1699.
I can no longer install and/or get the game to play either on Win 7 or my old XP but managed to capture this screenshot from one of the FMV files on the discs - the ladies are actually playing Pall Mall (a precursor of croquet).
I only played the first Versailles game. Is this one better, worse or about the same?

It’s a long time since I played either game Karlok but I didn’t find V2 as good as the 1st so if you weren’t impressed with that one…..!
After going to the trouble of copying the FMV files from the discs I’ve just seen the same screenshot at Adventure-Archiv - aaaaagh!
FMV? Am I missing something here? Those people look like plastic figurines.

Yes!, it’s a little misleading but the animated cut scenes are labelled as FMV files on the discs!
Well technically it IS full-motion, and it IS video! I don’t know why we (me included) assume FMV has to involve real actors.
I always assumed that too.
Duckman: Can you believe it? Five hundred bucks for a parking ticket?
Cornfed Pig: You parked in a handicapped zone.
Duckman: Who cares? Nobody parks there anyway, except for the people who are supposed to park there and, hell, I can outrun them anytime.
