Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Thursday 29 May 2014
KGB (1992) (aka Conspiracy) is an old Cryo game that takes place around the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union. It’s timed and full of dead ends which means it’s definitely not my type of game so I’ll refrain from expressing my opinion of it. There was an enhanced CD-ROM edition of the game released in 1993 featuring FMV with Donald Sutherland and some other footage but the gameplay is otherwise the same as the original.
“Confidence Max, you are a Rukov!”
Cool game, I liked it, gave me a lot of work and had to restart some times but the espionage setting and gameplay were fun at the time. Played the Donald Sutherland version that kept showing up in deaths with cryptic clues.
Edit: What the hell, this game has a 1 and a half score here, and I thought it was a classic
The dead ends and timed nature of the game make it an insanely frustrating experience, so I can definitely get the low scores.
That said, I really liked the first part (but never got all that far and had to resort to a walkthrough for the better part of the game), and I especially loved Donald Sutherland’s unhelpful tips and hints.
I also liked Cryo’s graphical style.
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
I found it a fascinating experience way back when; unforgiving, but I wouldn’t call it frustrating (at least to me) if approached with the right frame of mind. Highly recommended by this cleaning appliance to any adventure challenge lovers.
That AG score is an affront!
