Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Thursday 13 February 2014
Jazzpunk (2014) is really cool non-traditional sandbox style adventure game that was released a few days ago that I started playing today and I am really enjoying how utterly bizarre, irreverent and well, different it is.
My initial task was to gain entrance to the Russian consulate which can be done in about a minute if you go that route. Instead, I set out exploring the world and entered into a virtual world via a pizza box “laptop” and traveled down a pepperoni brick road battling pizza zombies with a pizza cutter and spatula.
I then played a mini-game to retrieve some VR glasses for a frog with a purple mohawk and was solicited by a sexaroid while trying to catch some pigeons with pheromones and a degaussing magnet as part of an unrelated side quest. You can even go into a movie theater and annoy people by smoking a cigar and throwing popcorn at them. I think I goofed around for about an hour before I even started the first objective.
On an unrelated note, with this and the last two day’s scenes, I have finally covered a game from every single year from 1980 to 2014 as a SotD.

Sounds as nonsensical as the lyrics to this great song...
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
