A.D. 2044 (1996) is a rather bizarre game. It takes place in a world where a war between the sexes occurs and the men get wiped out in a nuclear holocaust. The women then create an underground society and all is fine until they find a man in a hibernation capsule.

You play that man and proceed to escape from their captivity and wreak havoc on their society, which for some reason seems to be populated by half naked robo-babes. The game is a comedy about the sexes, but the game is definitely more sexist towards women than men, which isn’t really the least bit surprising.

As for the gameplay, it is a bit odd in that there is some horrible pixel hunting, but then the narrator on occasion will just tell you what you are looking for and the general area in which to find it. These hints didn’t seem to be triggered by anything I could tell. Sometimes they were quite welcome and at other times they basically ruin the puzzles/exploration. Did they make the game too difficult/annoying and attempt to fix it with these hints after the fact? I don’t know. It’s rather strange. Anyway, I wouldn’t really recommend this game, but I’ve played much worse.

Tough robotic women with guns afraid of a little mouse. Sarcastic

I got bored and didn’t finish the game. Don’t remember much about it, except that I liked how the game zoomed in on objects, which was new to me at the time.

See you around, wolf. Nerissa
