Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Friday 1 November 2013

It’s time for me to repent and post a screenshot from a religious game. Adam’s Venture Ep. 1: The Search for the Lost Garden (2009) is the first of an episodic trilogy of Christian themed adventure games utilizing a full 3D engine with direct controls.

The game actually looks and controls pretty decent and has a Tomb Raider like feel to it but without the dexterity requirements. It’s probably most similar to Broken Sword 3 or 4 as far as that goes. The puzzles, however, are pretty poor, consisting largely of testing your knowledge of bible trivia to unlock new areas. It’s also extremely short and has a weak story.

Do you do requests? I could really do with something more cheerful after a month of goregasms.

You mean, something completely different? How about this:

LOL! You have an interesting take on “cheerful”. My eyes hurt. Tongue What is it? And what’s that green Faberge egg doing there on the floor?

EDIT: Is it Keepsake?

Is it Keepsake?

No, it’s Heaven, a fundamentalist Christian AG.
Keepsake is not so outrageously colo(u)rful.

Beats me. Must be a homage to The Last Express.

Sure. I’ve already done several requests from others. The only rule is that it has to be a game I haven’t covered already. HERE is a complete list of the games I’ve done so far. Just send me a PM with your request and I’ll see what I can do.

It’s not actually on the floor. That thing is a catapult and the “egg” is ready to be launched from it. Maybe I’ll cover that game tomorrow. It’s a rather strange one…

Great, here’s my request. You have played every adventure game ever made. Could you post a pic from Journey to Wild Divine, please. And give us your opinion?

I find the graphics (specially the colo(u)rs) of The Journey to Wild Divine games very similar to that/those of Heaven. The main difference is that you (apparently) don’t have a Barbie type of character in the former.
And you don’t need additional hardware for the latter.

Instead of using a keyboard or a Wiimote or a gamepad or a touchscreen to accept player input, Wild Divine I and II use fingertip sensors on the index, middle, and ring fingers to monitor skin conductivity and heart rhythm variability. The hand with the sensors remains still while the physical state of the player drives events on the screen. Thus, unlike any other adventure game, The Passage and Wisdom Quest consist of challenges that can only be overcome by the conscious manipulation by the player of his or her physical state.

Due to the DRM and the outrageous price I skipped that game, so I can’t give an opinion on it or take any screenshots as I don’t own a copy. Sorry!
