Papers, please & Bad Day on the Midway

I just bought this game, but when I open it all I can see is a scramble of black and white lettering, and then it crashes to desktop Frown

Another game I’ve been trying to figure out for years is Bad Day on the Midway (the Residents) - just wondering if anyone has had any luck installing and playing on a newer computer at all.. thankyou in advance <3

Ummm pls let me know if those werent the correct specs to post, haha I have no clue. Normally when I have problems I just fluke it somehow and eventually I come across some internet DIY that is simple enough to follow but yeah, these two - argh!
