Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Saturday 10 August 2013
This is another one of those musician based games, from the band Earth, Wind & Fire this time, a band with way too many members. They’re like the disco version of Slipknot. The game is called Isis (1994).
The title refers to both the goddess, who requests your help, and a ship that you need to get working by finding the gems of… earth, wind & fire. Didn’t see that coming, did ya? You need to do this before a volcano erupts and makes Isis a really sad panda. You also need to save your own planet by bringing their awesome music to it or something like that.
This is an actual adventure game, albeit a rather short one, with most of the puzzles being inventory based, but there are some clue based puzzles as well. There are also some interviews and music videos in the game, but they are bizarrely out of place, almost like they were added as an afterthought.
With the exception of those videos, the game is actually pretty well done. It’s definitely just a snack though. No meat and potatoes here.
No meat and potatoes - with Earth, Wind & Fire it’s all gravy, all the time!
This is the only band-related game I own. Since I have my older computer out, I think I’ll have a look at Isis when I finish Obsidian and The Space Bar.
