I haven’t replayed Dune in a couple of years, which is far too long for my taste. I miss the game’s new age-y, dreamlike atmosphere, with its fantastic skies and entrancing soundtrack.

Cryo have taken lots of liberties with the book’s plot, and I wouldn’t play the game for a rendition of the book’s rich political, religious, economic, ecological or even psychological themes, but it did get the drug-fuelled, journey-of-self-discovery tone right, and that’s important too.

(They got the looks of the characters perfectly right too, except for Duncan Idaho for some reason. And the eyes of the Fremen, which are all wrong.)

I remember starting the game, actually RECOGNISING Kyle MacLachlan (after a small hint from my dad who’d seen the film), then watching the film first before continuing the game.

I liked both and the book has been on my “to read” list ever since. Never got around to actually reading it, though…

I loved Cryo’s graphics in this, and the lightweight turn-based strategy near the end.

New age describes this game perfectly. Such an engaging, surreal atmosphere.

I have read the books, watched the film many times, but I didn’t even know there was a Dune game!! Does anyone know if it’s in GOG?

It’s not on Gog or any digital retailer I know, unfortunately, because it’s one of the most unigue games I’ve played.

There are also other Dune games but they are RTS.

I really liked this game - I’d play with my brother when we were kids. I found it got too trick for me after a while managing all the spice production and armies and things. I’m not too good at games like that…

The real problem with reality is the lack of background music.
